The Legacy of One….

Morgan Isaac Malesker was born on October 16, 2001 to Codie and DeAnn Malesker in Hastings, Nebraska. He attended Faith Community Tabernacle Pastored by Rev. Edward and Sis. Lynn MacDonald. From a very young age Morgan loved to go to church. His first NYC trip the whole way there he was “preaching his guts out” as his brother, Andrew said. Morgan loved his guitar and he had it with him most of the time singing “God Rules”. He helped out at the church whether it was helping remodel, rake leaves, cleaning (which he didn’t like to do), or making sure the coffee was made, he had his hand in many things.

God had given Morgan a tender heart. He would seek out the lonely or dejected and make them feel special and loved. He encouraged many to keep pressing on.

Morgan loved God and was dedicated to prayer and fasting. He was usually in the altar long after church was dismissed. He lived and loved the slogan his grandfather, Pastor MacDonald, instilled in him. “First In, Last Out”.

Morgan has attended every NYC since he was 12. He was a giver. When the mission’s offering was taken up, his youth leaders knew he was going to give away all of his money and not have any food for the rest of the week. They took care of him and held some back for him.

Morgan felt God calling him to go to Africa at NYC 2018. He attended his first WMU in Indiana in 2019. He then went on a mission trip to Kenya the summer of 2019 alongside Rev. Brent Wedding and Rev. Michael Maupin. He fell in love with the people in Africa. He had compassion for others. He gave his shoes to someone there and then walked barefoot. There he had the opportunity to help in building the Bible College in Mumias and baptize several people alongside Rev. Scotty Grimh. At the headquarters church Morgan prayed face down and on his knees in the dirt for over an hour. He gathered everyone on that trip together to pray on the rooftop in the early hours every morning.

Morgan attended a Princess Within Conference at the Women’s Prison in Missouri the winter of 2019.

In February 2020 he attended his 2nd WMU in Tennessee.

Morgan graduated from Faith Academy August 29, 2020. Many have said he was “wise beyond his years.” He had several great mentors and loved to study God’s word. His grandparents took him to many conferences and had him read a lot of books.

He received his diploma from Apostolic Bible College with Rev. Mark Naimy, attended Hebrew Academy with Rev. Jeremy Lang, and Iron sharpens Iron with Rev. Paul McGee.

In March 2021 through the beginning of May, Morgan interned in Michigan with Rev. Shannon Scott. Morgan had preached at his home church several times, Michigan, Heartland Youth Camp, Heartland District conference, Louisiana Camp, and Illinois camp. The summer of 2021 he became licensed with the ALJC.

May 2021 Morgan went to Uganda. He loved it there. He loved the children at the orphanage. Morgan gave a lot of his clothing to a young man there who was without. He planned on going back to work with Rev. Sam Speer in January of 2022. Morgan told his parents he was going there to be missionary. His heart was in Africa. He said, “I will live there and die there.” He attended GMC that summer and was interviewed by Bro. Josh Wilson.

Morgan gained his heavenly reward October 8, 2021. He was the “first in”.

Morgan must have been born with a heart full of love for all people.

As a little boy, Morgan always had a smile on his face, liked to snuggle and give hugs. He was so loving and snuggly, his mother gave him the nickname “Teddy Bear.” Even as a child, Morgan was a people person, his smile and gentle way drew people to him.

Morgan had a tenderness about him, children loved him and he could be found holding a little child in his arms. He would play and talk with them. To hear them laughing together brought joy to my heart.

If you needed help and Morgan had free time, you could count on him to help you. From holding a baby, pulling weeds, hauling manure, or cleaning gutters and anything you needed help with. He would willingly help. He was a hard worker.

Morgan had a love for God like no other younger person I have known. To be like Jesus must have been his desire, his goal in life. To reach his fellow man for Christ. Morgan gave his love for Jesus freely and boldly for others. Morgan would put all of his money in the missionary offering. On one of his mission trips in Africa, Morgan gave his shoes to another young man and his clothes too.

Before I knew Morgan wanted to be a missionary to Africa, I asked him if he was willing to suffer greatly for God and sacrifice much. Without hesitation he answered “yes.”

Sold out totally – that’s what Morgan was. Beautiful inside and out. To see him worship, to hear his voice in praise brought joy to my soul. Morgan and I would pray and worship together – there are no words to explain how that touched me. I think his mom would get upset with him for jumping on my shoulders as we prayed. What I wouldn’t do to feel his arms around me and hear his voice again. I remember him telling me that I didn’t need to speak in tongues to him every time I gave him a message from God.

Morgan truly was a Christian, his heart was a heart of God’s own heart, full of love and compassion.

I had a dream about Morgan. He was walking on a street of gold then took off dancing and singing at the top of his lung across a field of flowers. There were children all around, following him, singing and dancing too.

Morgan had an impact on me – love unconditionally, be kind, give to others, work hard, love God and all mankind, pray, study God’s word, praise and worship God with all your heart and soul no matter what you are going through.

I had the privilege of meeting Morgan Malesker for the first time when he travelled with me on an AYC trip to Kenya, Africa, in July 2019. He made an immediate and life-long impact in the short time that I knew him. He amazed me with his dedication for the Kingdom of God: loving, serving, worshipping, praising, praying, he was the first to lead and the last to leave. I watched as he made everyone, he met feel important, whether it was a fellow AYC’er, an African brother or sister, or an orphan, he loved without measure. My favorite moment was when he and another young man prayed for a long time on a dirt altar (Pictures below). They didn’t care about getting their clothes dirty or who was watching…I pray we all receive that kind of desire for more of God. It was that very moment that I knew this was a special young man and that a burden for the continent of Africa had been birthed in him!

There are few people that you meet, especially those younger than you, that you admire and look up too, but that’s the kind of impact Morgan’s life had on myself and many others. I miss him dearly and can’t wait to see him again one day!

To say that it was a privilege of a lifetime to know, work with, and observe the work of Rev. Morgan Malesker, is an understatement. Morgan immersed himself in the Kingdom with zeal, passion, and consistency. Whether working the altar at youth camp, or serving in missions work in Africa, he gave his all and always made an impact. This great young man was the personification of one of my favorite scriptures, Proverbs 18:24 says ” A man that hath friends must show himself friendly…” And with a song, a smile, and Christian kindness Morgan Malesker was a friend to all.

I am eternally grateful that God saw fit to allow Morgan and I to spend time together. After a trip to Uganda merged our paths, Morgan made the long journey to Louisiana to attend youth camp with our church. I knew he was a good young man, with a wonderful spirit, but would soon find that this description fell vastly short of describing my friend. Morgan spent the entire week going above and beyond in every area that he served. I can say with confidence that there are young people in our church that are a direct result of his influence and effort in the nightly worship and altar work. He prayed our students through! Morgan Malesker’s impact on God’s Kingdom will only be measured in eternity, he will never be forgotten, and will always be missed.

Morgan’s Mission- there are many things that come to mind when hearing those words. His passion for reaching the lost was unmatched. His prayer would always be, “Lord, give me your heart for those that are lost”. When we would meet up for prayer or to study together, we would often talk about his calling to Africa, that is where his heart was. His goal in life was to reach the people of Africa and show them Gods love. To live sent, he truly lived the words “Here I am Lord, send me”. He left a mark wherever he went, his time with us was short but the legacy he left will live on forever through the lives that will be impacted through this cause. Morgan’s Mission truly was to preach the gospel to every nation baptizing them in the Name of Jesus.

Friend & Heartland MENistry Director

Morgan was a young man full of fire, purpose, and vision. I had the privilege of watching him grow throughout the years. Morgan was a servant in heart and was full of the Holy Ghost. Morgan lived his calling according to the theme of his youth group, “First in. Last out.” First in the altar, first in the field.

My last adventure with Morgan was in the Nation of Uganda. I watched as Morgan loved and listened. I was there as he sang
praises unto God with tears streaming down his face. It was not for an audience but for God. Morgan felt so deeply for the
people of Uganda that he quickly learned some of the languages so he could communicate more personally.

Morgan was confident that he would return to the Continent of Africa as a missionary. He was even more driven after he attended World Missions University. All of us who knew him loved him. Morgan’s contagious passion was only matched by his compassion.

As I am writing, I currently serve as Apostolic Youth Corps. Director for the ALJC Student Ministries department. I am
convinced that God would not take one Morgan from this movement without having another Morgan available for the mission. Is ti you? Will you be FIRST in and LAST out? If you are up to the challenge, I encourage you to apply for this scholarship, and let’s GO do something together.

I will share the little we experienced with Morgan in Uganda. From the first, I realized this was a young man with a sincere heart for the things of God yet had a keen sense of humor. He was enjoyable to be around and easy to talk to but quick to listen. I had a couple of occasions to speak with him one-on-one. I knew the Lord had his hand on him for a special mission. It may seem that that mission was cut short in what we would call an untimely passing. However, I believe God’s plan was completed in Morgan and through his testimony of his short time here, in a powerful way, will affect the lives of many young people to be so bold to lay their lives on the line in sacrifice for the kingdom. I wish we would have had more time with him, as I know you and family would also. We know the Lord makes no mistakes and the last chapter on Morgan’s life has not yet been written. We pray the Lord will bless and inspire many through your efforts to highlight Morgan’s life.

We have decided to name our entire student center, THE MORGAN MALESKER MEMORIAL CENTER in honor of Morgan. He was a fine and godly young man and I had opportunity to speak with him a number of times while he was with us. He impressed us al with his desire and dedication to the ministry, especially in missions.

Morgan’s Mission is a worthy cause to support with your giving and with your prayers. I was blessed to attend many conferences, camp meetings and mission trips with Morgan Malesker. His heart beat was all about Jesus, souls and giving to the kingdom and work of God! Morgan had a dream to one day be a missionary to Africa. Sadly his life tragically ended in 2021, but his dream lives on through Morgan’s mission. When you give to and support “Morgan’s Mission”, you will support other young men and women who hold the same dreams and desires to be a missionary to this world. When you support Morgan’s Mission, you keep Morgan’s dream and spirit alive. Morgan’s Mission will help train, equip and send other young men and women to training, short term mission trips and long term mission internships across the globe! God bless you for supporting Morgan’s Mission!

Memories of Morgan started when our son came home telling us about wanting to make a shirt with Morgan’s face on it to wear to NYC as a surprise to see his reaction. All the trips to NYC before MeLisa and I started attending with them always resulted in stories involving Morgan on the trip to, during, and returning home. Many of these stories had us rolling on the floor in laughter but also had us rejoicing over the spiritual growth and experiences they shared.

Highlights of the youth rallies, youth camps and special services within the Heartland District always included Morgan at the altar with our boys praying for each other. What an awesome sight! Then there was al night gaga bal. Those kids could play for hours on end!

Morgan’s motto of “First one in, last one out” has always left an impression on me of what a dedicated, committed young man he was to the house of the Lord.

He came out to Scottsbluff, driving his brand-new truck, to help us with our firework stand and I asked him to speak that Sunday morning. I told him we were having a condensed service due to having to head over to the stand right after church. He asked me if I would approve his notes before he spoke. I told him “No, I trusted whatever he had was from his heart and was from the Lord!” I thought how respectful that was of him to ask me, and he had an awesome thought, and we had a great move of God!

At the firework stand I have a visual still in my mind of Morgan sitting down with al our youth, laughing their guts out. Morgan had such a contagious laugh that ti made me laugh, and I didn’t even know what they were laughing at!

One night we had a bad storm and Morgan wanted to drive his truck to our Gering campus and put it in the shed because it was supposed to hail. The field was flooded because ti was raining so hard that he spun his wheels and made big ruts in the ground. After ti had cleared up Morgan’s tracks were still in the field. To this day Morgan’s tracks are still in that field. We have since moved from that campus due to the purchase of a new building in Scottsbluff and I so wanted to bring those ruts with us. Morgan was a trailblazer in so many ways!

We are currently planning to put together a memorial of Morgan in our new building. We definitely have a lot of material to be able to use. We will never forget Morgan and the impact he had on our family, our church, and throughout our district, and around the world!

Morgan was a lot more than a friend to me; he played a mentor role in my life and really helped me grow spiritually. I remember going to NYC one year and church was just getting dismissed, Morgan pulled me aside and spoke to me and prayed with me. There are countless memories I have of him of us laughing for hours on end. He had a true love for God and a fiery spirit. We love and miss him to this day.

Morgan was an impact to many people al over the world, and his impact is still felt today. I am beyond blessed to be able to tell of the many fond memories Morgan has provided me, my family, and Church family. I will never forget the memories I’ve made with him. I cherish the times we stayed up al night laughing, praying, or just talking. He was a great friend, even more like a brother. I would give anything to relive these moments. Morgan was passionate, generous, wise beyond his years, and he continues to be a light to this world. He was everyone’s number one supporter; he truly made the world a better place. We love and miss you always Morgan, thank you for who you were.
